I just finished reading Bloodsugar 101 and I am amazed how much I learned about the etiology of the disease. I am a trained RN and my educaation of diabetes was not this detailed unless we earned a DNE (Diabetic Nurse Educator).I know knowledge is power and understanding what is going on biologically and what the actions of different medications do to treat the disease enable all of us to question doctors on their decisions of our treatment regime in a much more intelligent way. I also know that informed patients often times influence MD care. Continue to research and continue to heal. Good luck on the journey!

I was facinated when I used this site. The information was simple, straightfoward and nothing like what was given by my doctor. I learned more from bloodsugar101 than I did from all the other sites I visited. I can understand your satisfaction with bloodsugar101. Hooray! Somebody took the time to educate us diabetics.

Yes, my son is very excited about Halo Reach!

There's a couple ways to follow the blog. You could put the address into Google Reader or you could just follow me on Twitter (@digitalcraig).

Two more things about diabetes drugs I'm currently taking.

1) Avandia and Actos cause osteoperosis because the mechanism they use creates converts stem cells that would turn into baby bone cells into baby fat cells. These baby fat cells use up glucose and so lower blood glucose. (http://diabetesupdate.blogspot.com/2010/02/yes-actos-and-avandia-cause-huge.html)

2) A report obtained at the NY Times says that "Hundreds of people taking Avandia, a controversial diabetes medicine, needlessly suffer heart attacks and heart failure each month, according to confidential government reports that recommend the drug be removed from the market." (http://www.nytimes.com/2010/02/20/health/policy/20avandia.html?hp)

I am certainly getting off of these medications ASAP. I'm currently taking Avandaryl which is a combination of Actos and Avandia. I've not got separate prescriptions for each and I'm going to stop Avandia first and eventually stop Actos. I have the means to monitor whether my blood sugar goes back up after stopping these medications and I plan to do it.

These medications were added ONLY because my blood sugar wasn't coming down. It wasn't coming down because the Niaspan was increasing resistance against all of my efforts. I don't see a need to keep taking these other ones, especially give the potentially fatal side effects.

Hello Craig!

I found out this post looking for ways to better organize my iTunes collection, and found your system interesting.

Later I ended up developing my own system, albeit targeting a large music collection and a very picky user, such as me :-)

If you're curious, check the link <a href="http://porque.si/tutorials-english/how-to-organise-your-itunes-library-using-tags-and-taxonomies" rel="nofollow">here</a>.

Good work, and have a nice time.
