These baby fat cells use up glucose and so lower blood glucose. (http://diabetesupdate.blogspot.com/2010/02/yes-actos-and-avandia-cause-huge.html) 2) A report obtained at the NY Times says that "Hundreds of people taking Avandia, a controversial diabetes medicine, needlessly suffer heart attacks and heart failure each month, according to confidential government reports that recommend the drug be removed from the market." (http://www.nytimes.com/2010/02/20/health/policy/20avandia.html?hp) I am certainly getting off of these medications ASAP. I'm currently taking Avandaryl which is a combination of Actos and Avandia. I've not got separate prescriptions for each and I'm going to stop Avandia first and eventually stop Actos. I have the means to monitor whether my blood sugar goes back up after stopping these medications and I plan to do it. These medications were added ONLY because my blood sugar wasn't coming down. It wasn't coming down because the Niaspan was increasing resistance against all of my efforts. I don't see a need to keep taking these other ones, especially give the potentially fatal side effects.
