Time for Thanksgiving

Now is the time of year that we should all stop and reflect, at least for a few minutes, on the blessings that we’ve been given. For me, it’s been a challenging year full of exciting, uplifting moments as well as a fair amount fear, uncertaintly, and doubt. The important thing is, though, in the end everything is more than okay. It’s fantastic.

In just a few short weeks, I will finish another semester which puts me just two classes away from graduating and receiving a Master’s degree. It’s been a long and difficult road and I had my doubts that I would ever make it this far, but I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. When I graduated from college in 1996, I swore I would never go back to school and yet here I am.

I made a great step forward in my career this year as well and was given management responsibility. The last couple of years have been pretty rocky since I really felt like I was in the wrong job, but couldn’t really do much to improve my situation. Luckily, the right opportunity came along and things are back on the right track.

I’m just lucky and thankful to have a wonderful and supportive family. We’ve been through a lot together this year with financial challenges, medical scares, and parenting woes. The one thing that never changed, though, is that we are an eternal family. We handled those difficult situations with the utmost love and respect for each other. Even when we were angry or disappointed, it was only temporary and forgiveness came easily. Everything changes when you put on an eternal perspective.

So, as you head off to spend time with friends and family (some of which you might you wish you didn’t have to), please take a moment to tell someone what they mean to you and that you are thankful to have known them. It can make all the difference in the world to hear that from someone, especially this time of year. It may sound trite, but it’s true. Life is short and you never know when it will be too late.

Be safe and have a Happy Thanksgiving.
