Cube World

Cube World

I was messing in the toy aisle at Wal-E-World today and came across “Cube World”. I just had to buy a couple of them to put on my desk at work. If you haven’t heard of them, watch the video it explains it pretty well.
Basically, there’s a little stick guy living in each of the cubes. The cube has motion sensors so you can tumble him around and each one has a little game built in you can play. The magic comes in when you connect them together. Each one has animations for interacting with a cube of the same kind or even a different one. They will visit each other, play, and even fight.

There’s not much to do to take care of them, but they’ll be a great conversation piece for my desk. :P

Winston

Winston, our 9 month old Yellow Lab (above), decided that the wires to my automatic gate (below) looked a lot like a rawhide.

I am not pleased.

Heroes!

Okay, so who’s watching this show? This has to be the best show on TV right now, hands down.

Actually, I have Lost! season 1 coming any day from Netflix and season 2 is right behind that. Yes, I’ve never seen an epidsode of Lost! so I’m going to see what all of the hype is about. Point and make fun now, go ahead.

Made it through mid-terms

It’s now the week after my mid-term exam and I actually lived through it. Of course, I procrastinated until the last minute and I’m not 100% that I understood everything the prof wanted, but I think I did okay. One question on the whole exam: write a case study for a server consolidation. Sounds fun, right?

Normally, this week would be my group’s turn to find an article and write a case study. However, it looks like we’re getting a little break from that. We’ve been assigned to answer a question at the end of the lecture notes. I guess that means, I get to write a case study next week.

How’s this for stupid? I was in the backyard with my 9 month old Yellow Lab trying to work on training him. We had a pretty intense hour-long session where I would make him sit and stay before I would throw the rope toy for him. So, as a reward for doing good I was throwing the ball up on to the roof and catching it while sometimes letting him get it. Unfortunately, we both went for the ball the same time. One of his teeth punctured through the skin on the tip of my right ring finger. It was an accident, of course.

The bad part was that, at first, all I saw was a lot of blood. It hurt so bad I thought he’d bitten my finger completely off. It took me a minute to figure out where the blood was coming from. So, if you consider I’m a touch-typist then you can figure out letters of this post are causing me the most pain. :)

Lastly, I signed us up for the Techpodcasts.com network. Seems be a great bunch of guys doing the same thing I am.

Short update

I only have time for a short update, but here it is…

My wife is out of the woods. The ovarian cyst they diagnosed ruptured (that’s a good thing) and after a few days of pain, she seems to have recovered nicely. Also, the blood pressure medicine seems to be doing it job.

All gaming is pretty much on hold right now. I did log into Guild Wars for just a few minutes to discover that every other guild leader had quit and I’m now the guild leader. Fun. Fun.

Still no new laptop from work, but I had two projects I put a lot of work into get cancelled or put on hold last week.

That’s about all I have time for now. I wish I had time for more thoughtful posts, but it’s 11:30pm and I just finished up my school work. I still have to go look for topics for tomorrow podcast.
